"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." -Frederick Douglass

Dear Families,

I'm Deborah Henry, the Reading Interventionist at Monaco Elementary School. I believe that early intervention for reading difficulties makes a significant difference in the long-term reading abilities of children. When children are reffered to me by their classroom teachers, we begin working in one or more of the following areas to strengthen the child's reading skills: Oral Language Development, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary Development, and/or Reading Comprehension.

Please explore the following links to discover more about reading and how to help your child at home.

The first two links are in Spanish as well as English. The Dolch Kit will provide you with sight words for your child to study. Enjoy...and as Dr. Suess says, "The more you read the more things you know. The more you learn the more places you'll go.
