Ryan Green - Principal, Monaco Elementary
As I reflect on my 18-year journey as an educator, I am grateful for the diverse roles I've undertaken, each shaping my perspective and commitment to fostering a supportive and safe environment for students and staff. From my early days as a paraprofessional teaching English as a second language and later providing dedicated support to a student with autism, to my tenure as a teacher spanning fifth grade to fourth grade math/science, and later assuming leadership positions as an assistant principal and now principal at Monaco Elementary, every experience has deepened my resolve to nurture growth and resilience in both students and teachers. Throughout these roles, my aspiration has remained steadfast: to cultivate a safe space where failure is embraced as a pathway to improvement, and where we do what's best for kids and what's good for adults.
Beyond the confines of the educational realm, I find solace and rejuvenation in the great outdoors. Backpacking through rugged terrain, camping under starlit skies, and pushing my limits through triathlons and marathon training are pursuits that invigorate both my body and my mind. As I prepare for my first marathon this September, I am reminded of the parallels between endurance sports and the challenges of education – both requiring perseverance, determination, and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones. Alongside these personal pursuits, I cherish the joy of being a father to three beautiful daughters and spending as much time with them as possible.
